Opentherm connection

The default setup with Nest and Worcester Bosch seems to be On / Off temperature control. The Worcester wave thermostat uses gas heat modulation to control heating, which works well and is more efficient. The boiler is on for longer at lower temperatures. So I wanted to do the same with the Nest, which says it supports Open Therm.

The receiver can work with the OpenTherm protocol or with the On-Off contact. Page 34 The gateway must be installed inside the building and should not be shielded by any metal enclosures. OpenTherm option (a fig. 1): Connect the two red wires with label OTBus, coming from the receiver, to the boiler where the OpenTherm connection is foreseen.Stevebn said: I've had a viessmann 100-w with Nest for 3 years. The Nest is connected via the opentherm connections so it can modulate the boiler. I spoke to viessmann and they said you can't have both Nest installed on opentherm and the outside temperature sensor installed, (so I didn't install the temp sensor). The boiler will be OpenTherm compatible (e.g. a Viessmann Vitodens 100-W 32KW system boiler) and the two heating zones and one hot water zone will be controlled by an S plan plus valve system. My existing heating circuit has tado radiator TRVs and temperature sensors in every room, communicating with the existing boiler wirelessly to an old ...

Did you know?

I can answer only to question #3. Yes, OT can give you power modulation , with great advantages in terms of boiler efficiency, while relay control can only turn your boiler on/off. In orde to use OT control your boiler must have this protocol and being pre-set to manage different modulation steps. Higher number of modulation steps -> better ...I have the Nest HeatLink connected to the boiler via OpenTherm. I need to move the HeatLink due to wireless connection problems with the thermostat. The Wikipedia page for OpenTherm states that I can use a cable up to 50m with 2x5 ohm resistance. Not sure how to translate that into a specific decision for a type of cable.I just got installed the Viessmann 100-W - 2021 version ( 35 kW Combi B1KF) to go with my Evohome , I selected it because the new (2021) version of the 100-W has turn down capable of reaching 3.2 kW , and it now has the advanced combustion control ( Lambda)from the 200W, and allows some boiler data (flow temperature and burner.- Verify that your heating system supports OpenTherm. - Make sure that the Heat Link is correctly wired. - If your system does not support OpenTherm, you will need to select On/Off boiler control instead of OpenTherm. N80 error: OpenTherm requires a wireless connection but wireless isn't detected. - Restart the Heat Link.

Hi, We have an Ideal Logic Max Heat 24 boiler which has OpenTherm compatibility that I'm looking to take advantage of. We have a Tado wired thermostat working in wireless mode after we invested in the wireless add-on receiver a number of years ago. Both the thermostat and receiver appear to have low-voltage terminal connections that suggest these pre-date the removal of OpenTherm from UK devices. When installing your Google Nest Thermostat E's Heat Link, check if your current thermostat has more than 2 wires. If it does, you'll need to identify them to finish installation. Make sure to take a picture of your current thermostat's wiring in case you need it later. You'll attach your current thermostat's Common (C) wire and it ...355. Thanks for the reply. I asked tado to send instructions on how to achieve this but their response is as follows: "Unfortunately, you cannot use the OpenTherm connection of your boiler if you have a Y-plan setup, it is only possible if you use it for heating only." Might be one of those 'technically possible' but 'not supported' scenarios.Apr 2, 2018 ...
