Best advise is to make sure you have the least amount of stuff you can blocking the grill. sink the winch down in frame, remove grill inserts etc. Got heat out of heater core. 5. Aug 4, 2021 · Low on power and running rough after warming up. My 98 TJ with the 2.5l has been acting up lately. It seems to run pretty normal when cold, but a few minutes after reaching normal running temp, it gradually seems to idle rougher and rougher, it's low on power and there's a drop in oil pressure. It indicates the engine is not reaching operating temperature. From what I can find the 3.6L V-6 takes a 203 degree thermostat. Thermostat is not that old (about a year) so I replaced the PCV valve which was toast (and quite a pain in the arse). At idle or even low speeds (45-50) it’s fine. But as speed increases the temp goes up.

Turned on the vehicle and left the radiator cap open then let it run for a few mins, 4. Drove it around the neighbourhood. Once I started driving it around was when the overheating started to happen and the radiator fan sounded like a plane engine.Normally when the fan comes on after a few seconds/minutes of starting. There is either air in the coolant lines, or a stuck thermostat. There is a bleeder valve on the top of the thermostat. You may have to remove the air intake to get at it, then use a screw driver to turn the bleeder valve to release the air until the cooler starts spitting out.
