This report presents a part of the results of a cooperative investigation of the Mississippian rocks in Kansas conducted jointly by the State Geological Survey of Kansas and the Federal Geological Survey during a period of nearly four years, beginning September 1, 1935, and ending July 1, 1939. Except for thin deposits of recent strata, all the rest of the rocks in the area are of Pennsylvanian age.
