Nov 17, 2020 · I have a 2005 Xterra and I am having problem diagnosing the issues. First I have four dash board lights on, and they are ABS, VDC,SLIP and the Check Engine. Secondly, the rear tires are dragging when reversing or turning. I took it to AutoZone and used their scanner and received code P0420 and P0430 - Catalytic converter system. So I have a 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X and the VDC OFF & SLIP lights come on, but when I go to grab the code reader and turn key back on to read the code, they go off, can anyone help? Save Share. I've purchased a 2005 xterra, GREAT vehicle. Since I've had it [purchased 12/2005] the 'VDC oFF' & 'SLIP' indicator lights have came ON and stayed ON until Reset by procedure in manual. Took it to the dealer, they 'reset' the code/module. Not even a week later, the lights are back on. It's a bit annoying - not even 2000 miles on it yet.I hit a puddle on the road and the truck did a 1/4 hydroplane, nothing serious. When that happened the VDC OFF, SLIP, ABS and BRAKE lights all came on. Once I got to work I turned the car off and turned it back on again and the lights were off. However, once I started driving again the lights would come back on 20 feet down the road.The bolt breaking and the bearing are two unrelated issues. The bolt that holds the sensor in typically breaks, especially if all you do it put a wrench on it and turn hard until it breaks. The outer surface of the hub accumilates rust. This rust is picked up by the sensor which confuses the ABS computer.The VDC Off/SLIP lights stayed on the rest of the day. The next morning, they were off. If I figure it out, I'll post again. Hi Drew, I did some research and found that it has to do with the Steering angle sensor, it has to be recalibrated. this happens after you change your battery or disconnect ...Put the transmission in N and cycle the 4wd to 4 high or 4 lo. Sometimes you have to move a little put it back to Nuetral and cycle till the light goes off. When the VDC light is on you might've turned on the 4wd without doing it properly and it gets stuck in low range. Hopes this helps.
