Kansas has twelve byways, nine scenic and three historic. Of the nine scenic byways, two of them are designated as National Scenic Byways: The Flint Hills National Scenic Byway and the Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway. Over a millennium, geologic shifts shaped the state's landscape to create a scenic backdrop for travelers.
