I know this is not precisely what WoodburyMan is asking for, but I can at least vouch for the fact that in Central CT CLMRN is loud and clear on a Uniden996P2 and a Whistler WS1080 (uprgraded from PSR-800). I am receiving site 028 (CC 774.53125) and site 027 (CC 774.30625) using a RS 800 back of set rubber ducky with a full 5 bars..I actually recently sold mine and I live about 5-7 minutes from you ironically. It is a great scanner for what you are looking to do. I had no need for it since I have 2 SDS200s and an SDS100. It never gave me any problems with reception.
