You cannot get to it from under the bumper because the locking mechanism is in the trunk lid. There is one suspicious hole in the lid trim liner, so I may investigate further.

It happens mostly on the front passenger door, sometimes intermittently, and randomly on the back doors. If you hit the button on the outside door handle, on the key fob, or the button on the inside it will unlock all the doors except the front passenger door. If you hit the door unlock/lock button on the front passenger door it locks and unlocks.

The Trunk relay #36 in the trunk fuse box is the cause. There are 3 of these relays; Parklamps 27, Trunk 36 and Fuel Pump 37.
