At first I thought it was something in the cargo area, but I emptied it out and the sound persists. It sounds like maybe it is a bad bushings on the rear suspension.Slowed down to approx 50-55 and noise stopped. Drove a fairly long distance and noise appeared one more time for a very short duration. Again, on the way home, noise happened again but only for a short time. Did have to de-accelerate each time to stop the noise. Engine performance and mileage not affected.

My clunking started about the same time the LR inner CV boot started flinging grease. Since I had heard about quality control issues in the joint mfr'ing (not uniformly hardened), I decided to replace the inner CV joint while I was in there. Clunking has stopped since.
