John deere 318 no spark.

Mar 12, 2008 · I have a deere 318 with an onan engine after it runs for like 5 minutes it will just die like you turned it off by the key due to no spark.After it sets for about 20 minutes it will have spark and it will run. Next pulled the plugs. LH side was black. RH side was gray. Tested each side for spark. Nada. Pulled the coil and tested on it my 318. No spark. Dec 9, 2005 · Connect voltmeter red lead to negative (-) coil terminal (A) and black lead to engine ground. Turn key switch to RUN position. Turn flywheel slowly by hand. Voltage should fluctuate back and forth between battery voltage and 1 - 1.5 volts. Results: VOLTAGE DOES NOT SWITCH: Replace Ignition control module. 1. T25 (for the stator screws but also may be three 5/16" head screws) 2. Phillips and Flat Head Screw Drivers. 3. Needle Nose and standard slip joint pliers. 4. When you turn the key, I should see the dash lights, I get nothing. I checked the bulbs and they are good.
