In the case of 4/4 the "correct" way to beam is in groups of 2 (for each beat). In other words, beaming should show each beat. However, the "short cut" is to beam the notes on beats 1 and 2 together (group of 4) and beats 3 and 4 together. In 2/4, all 4 notes can be beamed together (but not all 8 in 4/4). So either is "acceptable".

When 9ths or other upper members are added, we say the name of the 7th chord part, plus the name of the interval of the 9th. B-D-F-A-C is a half-diminished 7th chord with a minor 9th (m9 from the root). The only problem is, 9ths are comparatively rare in classical music, and 11ths and 13ths very rare until the 20th century. Is a key and scale the same thing in music? The missing note is D, but is unlikely to be Db. So - the key signature is 2 flats! Normally, of course, that indicates the keys of either Bb major or G minor. But here, neither Bb nor Gm appear. The fact C is keynote means this is " in C dorian mode". So since C-D is a tone (whole step), if you play any C on the guitar, you will need to go up TWO frets to get to a D (fret 3 to fret 5 for example). But for E to F, only one fret. To play the "alphabet" on guitar, start on the 5ths string A, and play the following pattern: A - B = 2. B - C = 1. C - D = 2. D - E = 2.
