We have the presence and partnerships to not just promise but deliver positive change through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. The YMCA Retired Men's Club dates back to the summer of 1961, when a gentleman by the name of Howard Hansis called a meeting in August with five men in attendance. Hansis was the Associated General Secretary of the Rockford YMCA at that time. By November, the membership had grown to over 20 members.
