I plan on taking the 1st level in barb then 3 in warlock then sticking with barbarian after that. The Warlock aspect is mostly for RP but provides some utility outside of combat in addition to pre battle buff spells. Our DM uses a "quirk" system to help build flaws and stuff and allowed me to take mounted combatant for some additional flaws.But really that's just a flavor build compared to a shurimonk. For a long time, Darkfire sucked. Then the devs overbuffed it so it was (briefly) great! But then it got nerfed - if not quite into irrelevance again, then at least not worth the AP cost, IMO. Your Eldritch Blast damage is scaled by your warlock levels and your FvS spell damage is based on caster levels; being subpar at two forms of DPS isn't as good as being focused on one. And you can't shoot Eldritch Blasts while casting spells simultaneously.
