The OMC problems from this era are because of the Evinrude ficht fuel injected engine problems. The carb models are very strong and reliable. The crossflow and looper refer to the way the fuel charge is introduced into the combustion chamber. At one time I had a 20' Dusky (tank) and we ran a 60* 150 or a 200 crossflow. The above problem could be checked out by simply pumping the fuel primer bulb (acting as a manual fuel (gas) pump) to force fuel to the engine's carburetors. The "R" in number indicates that they are resistor plugs, which are unsuitable for OMC ignition systems. The Champion "Q" series plugs have inductive, low resistance, suppression and are the ones you should be using. A v.1999 Johnson Ocean Pro 150-HP should have several advanced features compared to the run-of-the-mill older two-cycle engine: --System Check warning system with visual alarm annuciator; --OMS or oil mixing system; --automatic fast-idle for warm up.
