Duramax ticking noise.

Apr 12, 2013 · Truck developed a ticking noise shortly after. The noise seems to be on the drivers side to the rear of the engine. Sounds loudest in the wheel well. Its not really loud but I can hear it from several feet away. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. When I do hear it, it's not continous either...like a few times per second and then nothing, with no pattern.Thumping sound heard at idle and increases with RPM as you drive.
