Oct 23, 2010 · so based on my inspect, it's mostly not the axle (wheel ) seals that're leaking. the rear diff fill plug is very dry but the drain plug, well, it's the lowest part there so although it's wet it doesn't prove anything. the pinion seal is hard to tell although it's moist as it's also beneath that dripping "bar". With your temp at the precise range of 104-113F, it’s time to pull the check plug. Have the gasket ready to go, along with a catch container. If you have fluid come out, this means your fluid level is above the desired amount. I liked Redline best for the smoothest shifting. I had a 1986 SR5 4X4 4-cyl 5-speed p/u. My dad has it now and it still has the same fluids since I sold it to him in 1995.
