Please realize that the ears on a puppy look WAAAAAY larger than they will look on him as an adult, in the same way that huge feet on a puppy end up perfectly sized when the pup is full grown. Some people get short crops that look absolutely horrible when the Doberman is an adult. Doberman ear cropping is very common. Ear cropping is a surgical procedure in which a portion of the dog's ear is removed, producing ears that stand erect. The procedure is most often performed on Doberman puppies at around 8 to 12 weeks of age. The ears are trimmed and the edges are stitched.
